Turtles All The Way Down Book Review | Day 6 of Blogmas

One of my goals for 2017 was to read more books and to read at least one book a month. This is probably one of the only goals that I really stuck to and I’ve been able to keep up and read even with my busy semester. When my grandma came to visit, I picked up Turtles All The Way Down by John Green at Barnes and Noble. I absolutely loved the book and decided to do a Turtles All The Way Down book review for today’s Blogmas post.

If you don’t already know John Green, he is an author, Youtuber, producer and so much more. Two of his books, The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns, have been adapted into movies. He has a popular Youtube channel, VlogBrothers, with his brother, Hank Green. After 5 years since the release of The Fault In Our Stars, Green published Turtles All The Way Down.

Turtles All The Way Down Book Review

Turtles All The Way Down tells the story of 16-year-old, Aza Holmes, as she struggles with her mental health. Aza faces severe and often crippling anxiety. When Aza and Daisy hear of the disappearance of billionaire Russell Pickett, they contact Aza’s childhood friend, Davis Pickett. Turtles All The Way Down takes you through Aza’s life as she tries to balance high school, potential love, and her dwindling mental health.

As someone who experiences anxiety, I really connected with the book and Aza. John Green experiences his own mental health struggles and he is able to capture the experience many people face but is so hard to explain. Mental health is so often not talked about. I don’t often find books that accurately portray anxiety and I appreciated reading a book that captured it accurately.

I highly recommend Turtles All The Way Down to everyone, whether you experience anxiety or not. If you have friends or family who experience anxiety, reading this book may help you understand more of what they’re going through. Not every person experiences anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues the same but you get a good sense of some of what they face.

If you haven’t read Turtles All The Way Down or any of John Green’s books, definitely go pick one up! If you have read any of John Green’s books, let me know which one is your favorite in the comments.

Thank you for reading my Turtles All The Way Down book review. Don’t forget to read my last Blogmas post here.
