Last weekend, I wanted a new book to read and I didn’t have any on my bookshelf. I dragged my boyfriend to Barnes and Noble and walked aimlessly around the shelves looking for a good book. I couldn’t find a book I wanted for the longest time but I finally picked up Where We Belong by Emily Giffin. When I got home, I sat down and read the entire book in one sitting so I would say it was pretty good. For today’s blog post, I decided to do a Where We Belong book review.
Where We Belong by Emily Giffin
This year, I’ve read mostly motivational books or romance novels. I’m glad I picked up this book because it didn’t fall into either of those categories. Where We Belong falls under the category of chick-lit or chick literature. Chick-lit novels feature heroine narratives and focus on individual woman protagonists.
Where We Belong follows the lives of Marian Caldwell and Kirby Rose. Marian realizes that a picture perfect life might not be all it’s cracked up to be and that you can’t hide from your past forever. Kirby realizes she is who she is for a reason and there’s nothing wrong with being yourself.
I loved this book because it had bits of romance and drama, but it mainly highlighted the two main characters struggles and growth. This book made me laugh and this book made me tear up. It was exactly what I needed to cheer me up on a lazy Saturday.
I hope you give this book a chance and I hope you enjoy it if you do read it. Let me know if you enjoyed reading this book review because I would love to do more on the books I read in the future.
I hope to post twice a week on my blog throughout the summer, most likely Tuesday and Thursday. Some posts will be similar to videos I upload but some will be completely different. Subscribe to my YouTube channel for three new videos a week throughout the summer.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in my next post! – Kayla
